VISEGRAD GROUP
HISTORY
Cooperation between chambers, associations, and civil engineers societies from the Visegrad Group started in 1994. During the 30-year cooperation between the member countries: Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland 29 meetings were held.
MEMBERS
Members of the V4 Group are the following: Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SKSI), Slovak Association of Civil Engineers (SZSI), Czech Chamber of Chartered Engineers and Technicians (ČKAIT), Czech Association of Construction Engineers (ČSSI), Hungarian Chamber of Engineers (MMK) and Polish Society of Civil Engineers and Technicians (PZITB) and Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers (PIIB).

In 1991, in Visegrad, the Presidents and the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia inaugurated the operation of the Visegrad Group. After the formation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, the so-called Visegrad Four V4 was finally established.
Cooperation between the chambers and building associations functioning within the countries of the Group started in 1994. Representatives of these organizations meet annually, each time in a different country in order to meet, often for scientific and technical conferences on various matters connected with construction. The meetings are an opportunity to exchange views on the current situation of chambers and building associations, and to discuss construction issues in individual V4 Group countries, as well as an opportunity to formulate a common position on the forum of EU countries.
The subjects of the meetings of the Group were, among others: sacral building, transport and communication networks in regional cooperation, the role of chambers and building associations after the accession of the Visegrad countries to the European Union, energy problems of the construction industry in the Visegrad countries, safety in construction, the city and its river, implementing changes in civil engineering education, BIM in contruction.
The first meeting was held in November 1994 in Bratislava, Slovakia, SKSI and SZSI were the organizers.
Twenty nine meetings of the Visegrad Group have been held so far, Poland was the organizer of seven meetings. They were held in Krynica (1995), in Kraków (1999 and 2003), in Serock (2007), Wrocław (2011), Gdańsk (2015) and in Łódź (2019).
This year, 30th meeting of engineering chambers and associations of the V4 Group countries will be held in Poland on 10-12 October. Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers and Polish Society of Civil Engineers are the organizers of the jubilee meeting. The venue for the meeting will be the city of Warsaw.
